Citence audits WordPress content for classic SEO health and readiness to be cited by AI answer engines — ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews — and applies most fixes automatically.

1. Purchase & download

   Buy from the Citence product page and download the plugin ZIP.

2. Install & activate

   Go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, install, and activate.

3. Enter your license key

   Open Citence → Settings and paste the license key from your purchase email.

4. Optional: AI API key

   Add your OpenAI or Anthropic API key in Settings to unlock AI-powered fixes and Tracked Prompts. Core audits work without any API key.

Every post and page is scored 0–100. These checks run entirely on your server — no AI calls, no external data, no cost.

Unlike the Citation Simulator (which predicts from content), Tracked Prompts observes reality: define questions people might ask an AI assistant, and Citence periodically asks your configured model those exact questions and records whether it mentions your site.

WooCommerce products are audited automatically alongside posts and pages. Citence recognizes WooCommerce Product schema instead of incorrectly flagging it as missing.

REST API namespace citence/v1:

• GET /wp-json/citence/v1/audits — List audits site-wide (paginated). Requires edit_posts.
• GET /wp-json/citence/v1/audit/{post_id} — Read a cached audit. Public for published posts.
• POST /wp-json/citence/v1/audit/{post_id} — Re-run audit. Requires edit_post.

Filters: citence_post_types, citence_registered_checks. Actions: citence_audit_completed, citence_settings_saved.

All seven core checks run 100% locally — zero AI calls, zero cost, zero data leaves your site. AI-powered fixes are optional, require your own API key, and Citence never charges its own AI markup.
